SWAIXWE, COAST SALISH NORTHWEST COAST "Mythical Being of the Sky" or "Lord of the Sky" came down to earth and lives in the lakes. It is very important mask used at ceremonies to cleanse and purify. Powerful shamans who had SWAIXWE power could cure the sick. This dance mask with three hooded birds is the only ceremonial mask used by the Salish.
